September Adopt-a-Beach:
FINAL STEPS FOR CAPTAINS

  • Keep count of the number of full bags that are brought back. Have the volunteers return them to the registration table. Weigh bags as they come in. Bring a bathroom scale for this.
  • Volunteer Tallies: Have each team tally their datacard when they're finished. Be insistent about this, as it will save you a lot of time!
  • ESSENTIAL STEPS TO HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CLEANUP
  • Gather all datacards and tally results onto Cleanup Day Highlight Sheet. (BRING A CALCULATOR!) This Highlight Sheet will tally the results from all of the cards filled out for your beach. Put the Highlight Sheet on top of all of the other datacards. Return these with the volunteer sign-in sheets to the Alliance for the Great Lakes. All of these must be returned ASAP. You can mail them, or drop them off at our office.
  • Fax / Call in Cleanup Day Highlight Sheet: Fill this out and fax / call in the information to the Alliance for the Great Lakes immediately after the cleanup! We need this on the day of the cleanup in order to report results to the public.
